SEG Advisors is a commercial real estate development and advisory services firm based in Southern California with offices in Los Angeles and Newport Beach.

The company specializes in strategic planning for the development of shopping centers, multi-family projects and mixed used developments. The Principals of SEG Advisors have worked on the acquisition, financing, development, redevelopment and leasing of over 60 projects with a total square footage in excess of 45 million square feet.

SEG Advisors also provides Tenant Advisory Services which assists retail and restaurant clients with their expansion plans throughout the United States. John A. Gebhardt

Principal

John Gebhardt is a Principal in the real estate consulting and investment firm of SEG Advisors.  In such role he is active in development, project consulting, leasing, property operations and management, asset management, valuations, redevelopment, design, entitlement, financing, master-planning, acquisition, property assemblage, disposition and recapitalization and of retail, entertainment, office, industrial, mixed-use and multi-family properties.

  • He also serves as an expert witness in various real estate matters.

    Prior to such role at SEG, Mr. Gebhardt served as the local Partner and Project Principal for Panattoni Development Company, an international commercial real estate developer. In such role he was responsible for all ownership activities in the Greater Los Angeles area, including responsibility for all leasing activities, acquisition, disposition, financing, master-planning, development and management for retail, entertainment, office, mixed-use, multi-family and industrial properties.

    Previous to Panattoni Mr. Gebhardt was a Project Partner with the J.H. Snyder Company, one of the largest commercial real estate developers in Southern California. In this role he focused on the leasing, acquisition, entitlement, financial underwriting, development and management of retail, office, industrial and multi-family properties.

    Prior to joining the J.H. Snyder Company, Mr. Gebhardt was with CBRE, the world’s largest real estate service company. He served as a Managing Director of the North Los Angeles office, the West Los Angeles office and in Charlotte, North Carolina. During such tenure he was licensed as a Real Estate Broker in California, North Carolina and South Carolina. In such roles he helped formulate the strategic plan for the respective geographic areas, and served as the Broker of Record with responsibility for all brokerage and management personnel and contracts, and dispute resolution. He also served as the Co-Director of the firm’s Institutional Services Group for the Los Angeles metro region.

    Prior to his leadership role at CB Richard Ellis, Gebhardt was with The Voit Companies, a full-service real estate development company based in Woodland Hills, CA. During his tenure at Voit, he achieved the title of Senior Vice President. He was responsible for the company’s suburban office and industrial development projects throughout Los Angeles and Ventura County, and oversaw the growth of the company’s asset management business. He was also Director of Marketing for Warner Center Properties, a 2.8 million square foot mixed-use project in Woodland Hills, as well as development manager for the 80-acre Simi Valley Business Center. He oversaw all leasing activity.

    Mr. Gebhardt began his career as an associate with Price Waterhouse, where he earned the credential of Certified Public Accountant from the state of California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from UCLA, and has participated in Harvard University’s Executive Education Program and Stanford University’s Advanced Management College. He is currently a licensed Real Estate Broker in California, and is a member and former Southern California Board Member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and a former Co-Chairman and Board Member of the Los Angeles Commercial Realty Association (LACRA). He also has served as an Executive Committee Member for the UCLA Real Estate Alumni Group. He holds the designations of Real Property Administration (RPA) and Facilities Management Administration (FMA) through BOMI. He is an active member of Los Angeles Chapter of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

    Mr. Gebhardt currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA.

 

David W. Obbage

Principal

David Obbage is a Co-Founder and Principal in the real estate consulting and investment firm of SEG Advisors. He is active in development, project consulting, leasing, retail merchandising, redevelopment, acquisitions and recapitalization of retail, mixed-use and multi-family properties. Mr. Obbage also represents a variety of retail and restaurant tenants.

  • Prior to the formation of SEG, David was a Partner and Senior Vice President of Leasing for Westrust Ventures located in Calabasas, CA. He was responsible for all leasing activities for the company projects in California, Arizona and Nevada including the redevelopment of The Orchard at Saddleback in Lake Forest and the Beverly Connection in Los Angeles.

    Prior to joining Westrust Ventures, David served as Senior Vice President of Retail Leasing for the J.H. Snyder Company, one of the largest commercial and mixed-use developers in Southern California. His responsibilities included the leasing and merchandising of many notable retail projects including the Howard Hughes Entertainment Center, West Hollywood Gateway and The River at Rancho Mirage.

    Mr. Obbage started his career in commercial real estate brokerage at CBRE and then transitioned into shopping center development and leasing while working at Donahue Schriber, a full-service retail real estate developer headquartered in Orange County, CA. During the last twenty years, Mr. Obbage has been involved in the successful development, renovation and leasing of a variety of shopping centers and retail projects throughout the country.

    Mr. Obbage is currently representing several retail and restaurant clients and assisting them with their expansion strategies throughout the United States and Europe.

    Mr. Obbage is an active member in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in California.

    David is a graduate of UCLA and resides in Newport Coast, California.

    David currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Terry Donahue Memorial California Showcase and also serves on the Board of the OCRE Veterans Initiative in Orange County.
